Double cleansing is one of the most talked about Korean Beauty trends to hit the states- but is it really worth all the hype?
The K-Beauty Double Cleanse
The concept behind double cleansing is that you need 2 different types of cleansers, one to effectively remove makeup, dirt, and pollutants, and another to actually clean your skin. The first of the cleansers should be an oil-based solution which will cling to makeup and your skin's natural sebum. The following cleanser should be a more traditional cleanser with a water base and foaming bubbles.
Double the Cleansers, Double the Clean?
Double cleansing is definitely the way to go if you're a) a person who wears makeup everyday or b) someone whose skin is naturally oily or gets oily before the end of the day. But if you don't fit into either of these groups, doubling the cleanser might mean doubling the irritation. Sensitive, dry, and rosacea prone skin types should steer clear of the double cleansing and stick to using a gentle, pH optimized cleanser like Alder New York's Everyday Face Cleanser.
Double Cleanse the ANY Way
If you want to try out the double cleanse but aren't quite sure where to start, we recommend starting with a face oil as your first cleanser. Alder New York's Fortifying Face Oil can be used as a cleansing oil- it picks up excess sebum, dirt, and makeup while nourishing skin with fatty acids and antioxidants. After applying about a dime size amount to your face rinse your face with water. Follow the oil phase with ANY's Everyday Face Cleanser to help exfoliate dead and dry skin, preserve your skin's natural microbiome, and boost collagen and cell turnover.
