Tips for Changing Up Your Spring Skincare Routine from Alder New York's Founders

Spring marks the beginning of warmer weather and more time spent outside. It also marks the perfect time to change up your skincare routine. "Transitional weather is always the hardest on your skin." says David Krause, Alder New York's co-founder and Chief Creative Officer. "It's important to get ahead of potential skincare issues before they arise."

Here Alder New York's founders share their tips for keeping your skin looking flawless this spring.

It's Time to Get out the SPF

While it's important to always take precautions regarding sun exposer, many find themselves forgetting to pull out that bottle of SPF after months of hunkering down all winter. "I always go for a mineral SPF made from zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, like Coola's Mineral Sunscreen. It's effective and doesn't harm the environment like chemical sunscreens," says David. "Bare Mineral's Veil Finishing Powder is my go-to. It makes your skin look like it's just been photoshopped and it has SPF too," says Alder New York's CEO and co-founder, Nina Zilka.

Stay Hydrated & Protected

While your heavy face creams and hand salves are no longer necessary, spring weather can still be drying and harsh. "I find myself constantly applying lip balm in the spring," says Nina. Salt & Stones SPF Lip Balm does double duty providing broad spectrum SPF as well as skin nourishing ingredients like almond oil and shea butter. David also recommends using Alder New York Fortifying Face Oil. "It's lightweight enough to wear all year long and prevents my skin from getting windburn- something I'm prone to in the early spring."

It's Masking Season

Both Nina and David recommend using Alder New York's Clarifying Face Mask regularly. "I get a lot of build up this time of year and face masking really does the trick," say Nina. "If I'm going to have a break out, this is when it's going to happen. I use a Clarifying Face Mask almost religiously in the Spring."
