Current Obsessions - Volume 05

Current Obsessions is our reoccurring feature where you'll get an inside look into what Alder New York's Chief Creative Officer David Krause and CEO Nina Zilka are currently obsessing over.

NZ: I just had an iconic fall day, complete with apple picking in the North Fork and lunch on the water at Sound View, an extremely chic revamped mid-century hotel with modern-nautical vibes. Current zoning laws wouldn’t have allowed the hotel to be built so close to the shore- but as it stands, each room overlooks the Long Island Sound with a private outdoor deck perfect for watching the sunset, glass of wine in hand.

NZ: I recently spotted Subu’s quilted slippers at Shoppe Object and my feet fell in love. I think I'm going to end up getting another set so I have a pair for both inside and outside my home.

NZ: My sister-in-law gifted us two of these Mociun Spills as a wedding present and nothing gives me more joy than displaying them on our wooden bar cabinet where they scare guests with their seeming precariousness.

NZ: I just had my much delayed pandemic wedding and you’d better believe I was gua-shaing every day for the month leading up to it. It’s the best thing I know to get my face looking toned and glowing.

NZ: I’m eyeing some cozy season crafting projects, especially this tinsel wreath kit from FatPomPoms. Everything she makes is colorful, sparkly, and uses upcycled materials, and I want to learn her tinsel pom pom secrets for myself.

DK: Laura Fischer's cotton and found stone sculptures are just so beautiful and delicate. I love the idea of one of her pieces resting on top of a stack of books just waiting to be picked up.

DK: I've been traveling a lot this past month and Alder New York's travel-friendly face masks have been having my skin from aesthetic ruin!

DK: Crate & Barrel collaborated with Shinola an0d the results are divine! I especially love all the furniture (especially this chair) which has a modern craftsman vibe that feel refreshing and familiar.

DK: Season 3 of What We Do In The Shadows is back and it has kept me laughing all the way through.

DK: I have been lusting after everything enamel splatter lately. It's the perfect combo of traditional, practical, modern, and fun.
