Make Your Own Nourishing Hemp Seed Cleansing Face Oil For Radiant Skin
We're celebrating 4/20, the day stoners throughout the world celebrate by voraciously consuming marijuana in all its smokable, edible, topical, and who-knows-what-else forms. In honor of the holiday, The ANY Magazine is publishing a series of articles that celebrate marijuana and its many uses.
Making your own cleansing face oil is as simple a mixing a few good ingredients together. The key is to use oils that will naturally enhance your skin's appearance as well as clean away any dirt and impurities.
If you're not familiar with cleansing oils (welcome back from the rock you've been hiding under), here's how it works: Good oils, like jojoba and hemp seed oil, bind to excess sebum, which is our bodies' natural oil, as well as any other impurities, such as makeup and dirt. Then when you wash away the cleansing oils, all the bad stuff gets washed away along with it. It's like oil pulling for your face. If you add additional oils packed with vitamins and antioxidants, you're cleaning while improving your skin's health.
Why Hemp Seed Oil?
Our cleansing oil is made from four different oils, and the first is hemp seed oil. Hemp seed oil is derived from the seeds of the cannabis plant. It is easily available at most health and wellness shops and is legal through out the U.S, because it contains very low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol or TCH, the psychoactive compound in cannabis. What's great about hemp seed oil is that it's contains linolenic acid which has been used for the treatment of dry skin, eczema, inflammation, wounds, and dermatitis. It's also a great source of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids which helps protect against sun damage, free radicals, and inflammation.
Jojoba oil, another common oil found at health food stores, is similar to our skins' natural oils, making it ideal for replacing our natural sebum where it's lacking. Additionally, this golden hued oil is both antibacterial and anti-fungal, giving your oil blend an extra boost of cleaning power.
Adding tea tree oil and a few drops of lavender oil to the formula amps up the anti-fugal properties and helps treat acne and blemishes. This simple and effective blend will keep you skin looking spotless and well nourished.
