David's Summer Playlist: The Beach List
Spending time laying on the sandy shores of the Atlantic is my favorite way to spend my summer. Whether it's on East Hampton's Main Beach or along the Florida Coast, there's one thing that I can't forget: my summer playlist. The Beach List consists of electro pep, tropical pop, and reggae infused tunes perfect for beach going.
Skylar Spence, formally named Saint Pepsi, starts off the list with his upbeat sunny track, Fiona Coyne (named after the Degrassi character). First released last summer, it has already become a perennial favorite. I immediately thought of sunny beach afternoons when I first heard Petite Noir's Noirse in a promo video for Solange's collaboration with Puma. Bother-sister duo, Wild Belle adds some reggie infused vibes to the list with their tracks, Keep You and I'm in Love.
A few Summers ago Nina and I heard Friends' I'm His Girl while shopping at Steven Alan in East Hampton and I haven't been able to shake the connection. The Guardian 's Michael Cragg called Wild Cub's track Thunder Clatter "disarmingly sweet tropical pop," the perfect sound for laying out in the sand. Kygo's signature sound adds to the summer fun vibes with Kyla La Grange's Cut Your Teeth, a peppy European chart topper. Keeping up the peppy energy, Fitz and The Tantrums' Out of my League follows, and I ease out with St. Lucia's slightly slower All Eyes on You and Disclosure's moody Help Me Lose My Mind.
