Studio Visit: Caroline Kaufman
If ever there's a cure for cold weather doldrums, it's a visit inside the explosion of yarn and color that is Caroline Kaufman's studio.
We visited the talented illustrator, designer, and artist at her BF+DA space in the Pfizer building last week, where we were charmed and inspired. Her fabric strewn space is filled with sculptural yarn pieces and images of her signature beetle print in various mediums.
Caroline showed us her most cherished piece, a spool of twisty white yarn shot through with lurex that she hand spun while visiting an old professor on her studio/farm, as well as her latest project, a beetle print bed set collaboration with Australian Children's label Kip & Co.
It's no surprise that Caroline's studio would be as it is; her instagram is one of the most curated we've seen, and a perfect embodiment of the playful, bright, cheery world she embodies. We especially love her documented travels through Japan and L.A.; her ability to find the most artfully planted cacti wherever she goes is impressive.
We also got a sneak peak at Caroline's second collaboration with cult clothing label Ace & Jig (her first can be seen here) which will be on display and available for purchased at Bird in Williamsburg starting December 15th.
