There's a new girl in town, and she's here to change the porn industry. Barcelona based film maker Erika Lust, with her website XConfessions, is creating sex positive, story driven, well designed pornography that is a world apart from the mainstream male-dominated porn industry's tired version. Well lit, with great looking actors in stylish settings speaking interesting dialogue, this is pornography for the person who cares about design in all aspects of their life, including sex.

"You feel like you’re watching an art house film, only eventually everyone gets naked and has sex. It’s great." - Salon

Erika Lust created the website XConfessions because she was tired of looking at porn in which the women were sex objects and nothing about the film making, from the actors, to the set design, to the sex itself, looked appealing. "I want to get inside people's sexual minds. Mainstream porn is run by middle-aged men. Their vision has very little to do with my vision or my friends' visions."

At XConfessions, viewers (anonymously or not) send their sexual fantasies in, and the two most interesting get produced every month. The fantasies are often funny: in "I fucking Love Ikea," a women gets increasingly turned on as her boyfriend haphazardly tries to set up furniture, as well as incredibly well art-directed, like the film-noir styled "The Art of Spanking," where the set design is nearly as sexy as the actual fantasy.

There are so many reasons to love XConfessions that's it's almost an afterthought to mention that it's also porn you can feel good about. With mainstream porn, there's no guarantee that the actors and film crew are being paid fairly, given proper healthcare, and generally treated well on set.

"What porn you watch is the same as buying meat and eggs at the supermarket," Lust says. "Being responsible as a consumer is important, whether it's with food or porn." We couldn't agree more!
